The dam, when being built require labor, and the company building the dam will have to hire the labor from the local provinces, making job oppurtunities.

The government will keep in mind to give people compensation money whose properties will be claimed and taken by it.

The people who will become misplaced because of the dam will be provided with relief and a new home to live in.

The resivoir forming behind the lake will have some uses as well which might include boating.

Not only labor. but engineers from the local area will have to be hired to run the dam and maintain it.

The energy from the dam will be heading off to Colombo, which would help the citizens from power cuts. There was recently and major power cut in the whole of Sri Lanka, the dam would be able to help in such situations.

The 35 MW project will be able to power 35,000-40,000 homes in Colombo only. With this about 13% of Colombo population will get energy by this project only.
