NATION-WIDE DISADVANTAGES

GOVERNMENTAL DISADVANTAGES

  • The energy will only help the citizens from Colombo, the rest of the area will not be responsible for the dam.

 

  • Urban areas will be fovored for this electricity because of high population and population density. 

 

  • Being the last hydro project in Sri Lanka, the nation will have to find alternatives to get energy more effectively. 

  • A lot of land which will be claimed by the government is owned by civilians who have been living there for their lives.

 

  • The compensation money which will be given will not be enough to support their families or buy a new piece of land.

 

  • The relief they will be provided with will be only for a limited amount of time. After that they will have to work on their own.

 

  • The locals will not benefit from this energy, the energy will be used for Colombo only.

 

  • Shops which benefit from tourists there will be in a huge loss. Tourists who come there would have spent their money on such shops, but after the removal of the river, the activities would be removed resulting in tourism levels to go down.

  • The government of Sri Lanka will be critisized for its means of the claimed land in that area. 

 

  • The goverment will have another loan to china and HNB national bank.

 

  • The government will have to invest money for finding alternatives to the energy crisis in Sri Lanka.
